Jitekar Wadi Sarvajanik Shri Ganesh Utsav Mandal – 100 kg Cake Idol

It was their 125 th year. Jitekar Wadi Sarvajanik Shri Ganesh Utsav Mandal’s theme this year is a fondant cake idol where Bunty Mahajan’s Deliciae has decorated the idol with fondant, cupcakes and modaks. They spent eight days (400 hours roughly) on site to decorate the idol using cake! Intricate designs, mouldings and fondant embroidery for the idol were brainstormed upon and worked out, while different cake decorating methods, tools and materials which were taken to the site were used meticulously to create perhaps the country’s only cake-decorated idol this Ganesh Chaturthi. “They (the mandal) found us on Instagram and contacted us, asking us to design the look. It was a great experience and we were honoured that they wanted us to do it,” says Suchit Mahajan of Deliciae.

Every year idol of ganesha is eco freindly made from cardboard,paper and rice water. Moreover,whole idol is comprise of three types of woods that is wenge,pine and saalwood.

Sham Nimal Mitra Mandal – Narsing lane, Malad west

Mumbai saw a pani puri Ganesh idol made of 10,000 pani puris. Ramesh Gudmewar made 10,000 puris in 100 hours. He also used a hardener to make sure that the idol didn’t break and survived the period of the puja.

The Fortcha Ganesha Mandal is not only one of the top mandals in Mumbai but also one that has a long legacy attached to it. The inception of the mandal dates back to the pre-independence era, when Lokmanya Tilak had initiated the festival to unite people under the pretext of bhakti, devotion, decoration and music.
