Pangong

Pangong

We left for Pangong. Again 5-6 hours journey. But the scenary was so captivating that we didn’t feel tired even after travelling for so long.

On the way we saw the Himalayan Marmot. Marmots are rodents, closely related to both ground squirrels and prairie dogs. There were strict instructions from the drive not to get out of vehicle. Because of increasing tourist, they didn’t want us to disturb their natural habitat.

Then we continued to Pangong. We had lunch on the way. 3 Idiots movie has made this place very famous. Even the names of cafe here were 3 idiots cafe, Rancho cafe etc. Pangong Lake is also known by the name of Hollow Lake and appears as a clear symbol of nature craftsmanship. The first glimpse of the tranquil, azure blue waters and shaky lakeshore remains etched in the memory of tourists.

Those who think the picture is edited , see the video above to clear your doubts. The brackish water plays with sunlight to produce different effects of light.

Pangong Tso is in disputed territory. The Line of Actual Control passes through the lake. A section of the lake approximately 20 km east from the Line of Actual Control is controlled by China but claimed by India. The eastern end of the lake is in Tibet. We then clicked pictures.

The above image is one of my favourite candid picture.

Now some my pictures. Pc – https://www.facebook.com/kartik.haria

F.R.I.E.N.D.S, my favourite show, so just copying Joey’s style. The beer is edited 😛 XD

Then clicked pictures of the family that were with us, like a photoshoot 🙂

Convinced them to pose in the next few pictures 🙂

Brought this dolls from Ladakh, so that I can click it with some awesome landscape. And it did turn out great, what do you think do comment below (^_^).

Seeing the pictures and our enthusiasm uncle aunty also became excited and started posing. Here are some pictures. 😀

Now selfie of the whole group with the driver who was very helpful during the whole journey.

Then after funfilled memories and loads of picture we head to the tents. Couldn’t wait till sunset as the road is bumpy and there is very less visibility. After reaching there, we rested for sometime and then had dinner. The dinner was delicious. It was cold because we were living near the lake.

Then at night the sky was so clear, wherever you will see there are stars. And one can even see milkyway during the night clearly. We also saw 2-3 shooting stars. It is normal to see shooting stars, in such a clear and vast stary night. We again checked in “Stellarium”(laptop app) to see where the milky way will be visible. Milky is visible in dark clear sky, once moon starts rising milky was is not clearly visible because of moonlight.

In the above picture you can see a shooting star at the right side of the image. I saw the shooting star and quickly positioned the camera and clicked.

In the above image, you can see milky way. It is not very clear because the moon had risen.

And now some random clicks.

Tents in which we were living for the night.

Then after sometime checked at what time the sunrise is in the Stellarium. Woke up early to see the sunrise.

One side it was dark and sun was rising and the moment you turn around it is all bright with a small moon.

After having breakfast clicked some panaroma images of the place. And who doesn’t want to wake up at a such a place everyday!! The view was relaxing and refreshing.

Then we left for Ladakh. We requested the driver to stop by the lake again so that we can see the view one more time.

3 Idiots School

We stopped at a small house. They were offering yak cheese, milk, lassi and tea for tasting. They didn’t take any money for it. The lassi was nice. They had a stall nearby, so went there and had lassi. The lassi wasn’t very sweet but it was good.

Then we went to Rancho school, the school which was shown in 3 idiots. The school is very advanced in its education and facilities. It generates electricity with solar energy. The scene at the end where Chatur goes and pees on the wall is painted with movie’s characters and scenes. The school offers a broad education, initially in the Ladakhi language and English. Residential blocks allow children from Ladakh’s remote areas to attend, and a programme of sponsorship ensures that the poorest are not excluded.  The instructer explains us the history of the school, then told us to follow to the wall.

After this we reached our hotel Lharimo. Today we wanted to try momos, so we went in the restaurant – The Tibetan Kitchen. It was suggested by friends who had previously visited Ladakh. The momos were delicious. The cuisine, ambience and service is very good. Then went to market for sometime and returned to hotel. And the day ends. 😀
